Cincinnati’s Online Jewish News
The BIMAH
The purpose of our Web site is to provide information and services about and to our Cincinnati Jewish Community. Your privacy is important to us and we are committed to protecting it and to making you aware of our online practices regarding the privacy of your information. The BIMAH, LLC (hereinafter “The BIMAH”) is committed to protecting your privacy while you visit our web site at www.thebimah.com. Please read this policy to understand how we will use the personal information we will collect when you visit our site and how we work to make your online experience with us secure.
What information do we collect?
We collect information from you when you subscribe to our site so that you may inter-act live on a daily basis and respond to a survey or communication such as e-mail, or participate in other site features.
When you register on or visit our site, we will ask you for your name, e-mail address, phone number and zip code, or other information only when needed. Otherwise you will log in with your User Name and Password. You may, however, visit our site anonymously but you won't be able to participate with the interactive portions of our site.
If your personal information changes and you wish to update it (such as your address), or if you wish to delete your information, you can make changes to your user profile on the site. If this should prove insufficient, you may contact our content manager at info@thebimah.com who will correct, update or remove your personal information as requested.
Like many other Web-site operators, we use "cookies" to enhance your experience and gather information about visitors and visits to our site. Please refer to the "Do we use 'cookies'?" section below for information about cookies and how we use them.
How do we use your information?
We may use the information we collect from you when you subscribe, respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the website, or use certain other site features in the following ways:
- To personalize your site experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content in which you are most interested.
- To allow us to serve you better and respond to your customer-service requests.
- To administer a contest, promotion, survey or other site feature.
- If you have opted in to receive our e-mail blasts, we may send you periodic e-mails (or tweets). If you would no longer like to receive these e-mails from us, please refer to the "How can you opt out, or remove or modify information you have provided to us?" section below.
How do we protect visitor information?
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. We keep your personal information behind secured networks and make it accessible only to a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems. We require those persons to keep the information confidential. When you access your personal information, we offer the use of a secure server.
Do we use "cookies"?Yes. Cookies are small files that a Web site or its service provider, after you have given your permission, transfers to your computer's hard drive through your Web browser. Cookies enable the site's or service provider's systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. We use cookies to help us understand your preferences based on your previous or current site activity. These preferences enable us to provide you with improved services. We also use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.
We may contract with third-party service providers to assist us in better understanding our site visitors. We do not permit these service providers to use the information they collect on our behalf except to help us conduct and improve our business.
You can choose to have your computer warn you each time we send you a cookie, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. Go to your browser (like Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer) settings. Each browser is a little different, so look at your browser's “Help” menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies. If you turn cookies off, you won't have access to many features that make your site experience more efficient and some of our services will not function properly.
Do we disclose the information we collect to outside parties?
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information unless we provide you with advance notice, except as described below. We may also release your information to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others' rights, property, or safety.
Choice and Opting Out
Our users may opt out—in other words, request that we not use your information for purposes not directly related to our site--at the point on our site where we ask for the information. For example, the subscription form has an opt-out mechanism so users who subscribe through us, but don't want to receive any further communication from us, can choose to keep their email address off our e-mail lists.
Users who no longer wish to receive our email blasts or tweets may opt out of receiving these communications by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link on the registration page. We will immediately remove your name from our list.
We always notify users of our site when outside parties collect their information. We provide this notification so our users can make an informed choice whether they should proceed with services that require an outside party.
Security
The BIMAH takes every precaution to protect user information. When users submit sensitive information to us we protect the information both on line and off line.
Although we use encryption to protect sensitive information on line, we also do everything in our power to protect user information off line. We mark all user information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, “restricted” in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (content managers, sales managers, or editors) have access to personally identifiable information, and then only through password-protected screen savers. Furthermore, we keep all of our employees up to date on our security and privacy practices. When we add new policies, we notify our employees and remind them about the importance we place on privacy and what they can do to ensure the protection of our readers' information. Finally, we keep the servers on which we store personally identifiable information in a secure environment, behind a locked cage.
Although The BIMAH will work very hard to maintain secure sites, we cannot and do not guarantee data transmission on the Internet.
Notification of Policy Changes
The BIMAH is committed to safeguarding your privacy on line. We reserve the right to change this policy. Because this policy may change from time to time we encourage you to check back periodically.
If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify users by way of an email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we may use their information in this different manner.
Third-party links
In an attempt to provide you with increased value, we may include third-party links on our site. These linked sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore disclaim responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites, such as cookies you might receive from those sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these linked sites including if a specific link does not work.
Access by Children
The Web site contains no features directed to children under the age of 18. Children under 18 may not use any of the services available on our website.
Although The BIMAH and sites that it powers are not currently directed to children under the age of 18, any forthcoming sites that interact with children under the age of 18 will always obtain parental consent prior to collecting personal information. Such sites will also provide parents with access to information collected about their child and the opportunity to opt out of future collection and have us delete such information. Unless The BIMAH has received prior parental consent, The BIMAH will use a child's on-line information only to respond directly to the child's request and will not use it for other purposes without prior parental consent.
The BIMAH encourage parents and guardians to supervise their children's on-line activities and to consider using parental control tools available from on-line services and software manufacturers to help provide a child-friendly on-line environment. These tools also can prevent children from disclosing on line their name, address, and other personally identifiable information without parental permission. If products and services are ever for sale they are intended for purchase by adults. By making a purchase on the website, you agree that you are at least 18 years of age.
The BIMAH and all websites that we might own now or in the future or operate will:
NOT collect personally identifiable off-line contact information from children under the age of 18 without prior parental consent.
NOT distribute to third parties any personally identifiable information with respect to children under the age of 18 without prior parental consent.
NOT give the ability to post publicly or otherwise distribute personally identifiable contact information with respect to children under the age of 18 without prior parental consent.
Your consent
By using or visiting our site, you consent to our privacy policy.
