About the BIMAH

("Bimah" is a Hebrew word meaning "elevated place". It refers to the raised platform or pulpit in a synagogue from which the Torah is read and services are conducted.)

The Bimah (www.TheBimah.com) is Cincinnati's first daily, interactive online Jewish community news source. It is a hyper-local, advertiser-supported website which features news from the community's many organizations, synagogues, temples, academic and cultural institutions.

Every business day, organizations and congregations are invited to submit their news, events, photos and video links—keeping the community up-to-date on upcoming activities, events and special announcements. The Bimah's staff reporters also post stories and videos on community news and events.

Additionally, registered users can upload social news and photos announcing Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, birth announcements, anniversaries, birthdays, academic achievements, job promotions, and other honors and awards. Interactive features include "The Daily Kibbitz"—a blog on timely topics; a recipe exchange, The Bimah TV, lifestyle essays, opinions and more.

Users are required to register to upload content or participate in the site's interactive features, but all site functions, registrations and content are FREE.
